Today’s (yesterday’s) prompt: What would your theme song be?
In high school and college, I decided that someone, someday was going to make a movie about my life. Of course, the only thing I thought was worthwhile about it, then, was the partying. So, I decided that this song would be the song that should play when my friends and I (with Claire Danes in the lead role, of course) walked into raging party. You know. Because Catholic-school white girls from central Kentucky often make their marks at parties in South Central LA.
Also? This is the first time I ever remember seeing a music video for it!
Sadly, I’m at the point in my life where the music of my high school and college years is rapidly approaching 20 years of age (’cause now, I’m a big “G”). It’s starting to become the dreaded “oldies.” In fact, this song is featured in a freaking tax preparation commercial. Sadly, the commercial are probably a more accurate depiction of my life! It was on heavy rotation during the NFL playoffs, so it was a constant earworm. One particular Sunday night, I was in the kitchen – probably scarfing down some buffalo chicken dip – when the commercial aired in the next room. My husband walked in to find me dancing ridiculously with the dog. He laughed. I laughed, but every time the commercial airs, I try to forget about the tax prep aspect and relive those fun party days.
